The seminar that I put on last week was a big success and it kept me crazy busy on Friday, hence the lateness of the Show and Tell this week. I’ve got the wrap up almost complete, just compiling the rest of the links and I’ll have it up for you early this week.

Today I’m extra happy because the sun is shining. Even though it’s still a little cold when the sun is out I can’t help but have a good day. This week has been interesting and fun for sure. Had a great lunch/meeting with Sean, Raymi & Casie about our Guide to Social Media Blog Seminar on March 18. Have you got your tickets yet? Today is the last day for the early bird price and it will close at midnight.

We finally got winter in Toronto and have about 3 inches of snow. It made for an interesting time last night, trying to walk around in the snow with a freshly tattooed leg, and getting a cab was almost out of the question. Luckily Chad loves to come and pick me up from events Tonight I’m going to another fun party with Ms. Currybomb, the Toronto Cat Rescure Furball. Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?

In Aug 2009 Simon Hoegsberg spent one week, 5 hours a day, giving free advice & coffee to passersby. It’s a great Social Experiment, and one that I actually found pretty interesing.
For all you fashionistas out there Wikifashion is looking for contributors. It’s a great site started by Madeline Veenstra an Aussie native.
BlogTO posted a great article on the Top 5 Spaces for Working Remotely in Toronto. Very helpful for freelancers and self-employed people.

This week has been full of craziness and I’m really looking forward to watching the Olympic Ice Dancing tonight. Last weekend we went down to Ilderton for Darryl’s birthday and had the chance to meet and celebrate with their friends and family, including the father and brother of Olympic Ice Dancer Scott Virtue. We had a great time and our cottage team was back in action with some very good Production Meetings.

Which brings us to our first link for the week:

Today at 4:15pm Scott Moir & Tessa Virtue compete in the compulsary dance in the Ice Dancing competition at the Olympics. The pair are fans of Hail The Villain and longtime friends of their Producer & his girlfriend Sandy. Go Canada!!!
Hatemongers (a church group in the US who do not deserve to be named or linked to) were trying to protest outsite Twitter’s SF offices when a group of pranksters beat them at their own game. Check out their counter to the churches hate.
Middlesex London Health Group has created an online game called Adventures in Sex City to help spread awareness of STI’s. I played and got all the answers right! No STI’s for this kid.
At the Ontario Olympic Pavillion in Vancouver you can control the lights on the CN Tower with your mind – no joke.

It’s hard to believe that the first month of 2010 is almost over. This month saw a lot of changes for me and I’m still very positive about the coming months. It really looks like the groundwork that I have been laying is starting to pay off. This week I’m going to make up for my lack of posting last week with more great links for you.

If you believe in Astrology then I recommend Susan Miller’s Astrology Zone. I’ve been reading her fairly in depth monthly reports the last few months and I have to say it’s fairly accurate, in regards to what has been going on in my life.
You probably heard that Apple has released it’s first Tablet computer, the iPad. I’m really interested in trying one out. I don’t think it would be a viable option for me, because most of my work is fairly keyboard dependant and I have a hard time with touch screen because I have longish nails.
This week I tweeted about this story on H&M in New York and how they destroy old stock and throw it in the trash. @geekigirl replied that “H&M in Toronto donates their unsold clothing to Windfall”
I want to know what H&M NY is going to do about this. (maybe take a page from American Apparel and have a rummage sale?)
Now there’s scientific proof that watching too much TV can shorten your life.
I want this cover for my Macbook. Imagine my computer looking like an old book. I’m such a nerd.
Toronto Blog Girl Urban Native Girl shared some great tips for how you can save money in these tough economic times.

I love looking at photos of abandoned buildings. I find them eerily beautiful and I love to see the Earth taking back the land.
Kadikchan town is the lost city of Russia. It was mostly abandoned after the fall of the Soviet Union and in 2008 reported 375 inhabitants. I can’t imagine living here.

Show and Tell: Jan 15/09

Today has been an eventful week. Tuesday night I saw a great band The Great Diviners at the Horseshoe, and then met some of my brother’s friends and went to a club (sorry Currybomb, not a Monday night) for free bottle service, I think it was Century Room and got too see one of my favourite girls Becky (check out her designs HoneyBea). Had some great meetings and finally tonight is the Down With Webster show at Sound Academy, and if you’re coming out make sure you say Hi!

On a more serious note, we are all aware of the devastation in Haiti this week. There have been lots of charities and relief efforts spring up and unfortunately there are some people who are using this disaster to swindle people out of there money. Here are some links to help you find legitimate sites/charities so you can do your part:

CNN news has put up a page on their website CNN.com/Impact with legitimate organizations who are specifically helping Haiti.
For Torontonians – Notable TV is organizing a major fundraiser event with all proceeds going to Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti foundation. They will be updating their site with information as it happens or you can join their Facebook Group
Every Red Cent is putting on Haiti Relief Benefit concerts. Join their FB group.

I haven’t forgot about Show and Tell, it was just on hiatus over the holidays because I spent more time eating, drinking and laying on the couch than online surfing. Here are some treats to start off the year:

Cats are very smart animals and in the UK a Mystery Cat rides the bus every day to run his errands.
In the 1820’s the Toronto Harbour was home to the sport of Ice Boating. Torontoist posted a great article about it a few weeks ago. Imagine the lake frozen solid and being able to walk to the Island.
ProBlogger saved my blog with the article How to back up your Wordpress blog in 3 easy steps. I recommend all you Wordpress users do this NOW.
The ‘secret staircase‘ is an innovative design from Tom Sloan at Levitate Architects. I would love this in my house.
Do you remember Fraggle Rock? It was one of my favourite shows when I was younger. A few weeks ago Agent Lover wrote about attending the Drx X Fraggle Rock launch party and if you love Fraggles you must check out the interactive website he created.
It seems that people are creating clothing out of anything these days and in China they created couture our of condoms! I hope they weren’t used. Ugh.
