A week today is the the event that my agency is hosting, The Guide to Social Media Success. There are still tickets left if you want to come. You’ll get to hear from top bloggers Casie, Raymi & Sean and learn the tricks of the trade like:
how to get – and keep – the attention of movers and shakers in your industry
how to turn your everyday life into compelling content
how to brand yourself online
what programs and applications to use to host your site, keep track of your statistics, and promote yourself & your blog
You’ll also get a chance to ask questions and we’re going to be having drinks and networking after they speak. I’m really looking forward to it and I hope to see some of you out IRL.
The four of us had a sushi meeting last week and Sean made this video to promote our event. I continue to be awkward on camera and I hope you guys enjoy it.
I can’t believe that it’s been a year since I started my blog. It’s crazy to think about where I was when I started it and where I am now. I was a skeptical at first about putting myself out there onto the internet for everyone to read, but I’m really glad I did. I’ve met some really great friends through blogging and even started a blog division for my agency.
A big thank you to everyone who has read, commented and supported my blog You make my day!
I can’t wait to see what the next year will bring.

Sean Ward, one of my newest business co-horts, caught me on video the other night at Casie’s house after our SMWTO event and asked me some questions about the launch of my New Media Division. Check out the video and interview here
Meet Carly-Anne Fairlie of The Fairlie Agency. Carly-Anne noticed that most of the work was going to the people on her roster who are active on Youtube and social media so the natual thing to do was to go full-force. The founded the Toronto Blog Stars and now she represents Raymi, Casie, and me. Stay tuned for the announcement of our first big event together.
Yesterday I went to the Social Media Trends in 2010 presentation to hear Scott Stratton speak. He runs a company called UnMarketing and I was really looking forward to hearing what he had to say. I went with Currybomb and we just made it in time, luckily Casie had saved us seats.
I was really impressed with Scott’s presentation. He was very engaging and I actually took notes and learned a lot. If you follow me on Twitter you likely saw my favourite quotes of the evening:
“Twitter is my trusted Google”
“Twitter is like a water cooler for Entrepreneurs”
“If you don’t know who the creepy dude is in your office, you are the creepy dude”
He really gets social media and his philosophy “stop marketing, start engaging” makes sense. Scott/UnMarketing started on Twitter in Jan 2009 and logged 7,000 tweets in his first month to be relevant. This hard work earned him a book deal and I am definitely going to read it when it comes out. Thanks to UnMarketing & Refresh Events for putting on a great event.
Afterwards I went with Sean, new friend Sheldon & Casie to her house for a food and a hang before Kathryn picked my up to go to our next event. It was a blast hanging with you guys and we’ll have to do it again soon!
You have to make 3 nominations, so add me and any two other blogs you like. There are a bunch of different categories to choose from. Feel free to nominate a blog from my Favourite Blogs on the sidebar.
