I like getting the ball rolling…
Last night’s Toronto Blog Stars event, put on by me and featuring Casie, Raymi & Sean was a big success. I’m really proud of all three of you for putting together such great presentations. Thank you to everyone who came out to the event.
This week has been so crazy busy and I’m behind on work stuff so Show and Tell will be late, as will my wrap up of the event.
Here are some posts that Sean Ward, Romi, Melissa & Jane wrote about last night.
MTV FORA, Peach Beserk & Blog Babes
I got my hair fixed first thing on Monday and it’s back to pink for me. Thank you so much to Matt at Brennen Demelo Salon for coming in early on a Monday morning, fixing my colour and styling my hair for the MTV event. Then it was off to see my lady Krista Mae, makeup artist extraordinaire, to get my makeup done. I felt like such a princess having people do my hair & makeup and put me in a pretty dress to wear. I’m always the business person in the background, holding on to everyone’s stuff and it was such a nice change to be the one in the spotlight, so to speak.
My sister Kristin was able to make it out, which was so great. I love going places with her and she looked hot in a blue suede dress. My cupcake dress is by Peach Berserk.
The first part of our fun day was to watch the interview with Kelly Cutrone of People’s Revolution. Some of you may know her from her work on The Hills & The City. She’s a fashion PR powerhouse and now a TV star and author. I really wanted to meet Kelly in person and get a chance to talk to her, but she was on her promo tour for her book “If You Have To Cry, Go Outside” so she was whisked away to her next interview. Kelly is one of my business idols and I can’t wait to read her book and hopefully have the chance to meet her in person one day.
After the interview the media/VIP’s went up to the Masonic Hall for a sneak preview of MTV’s new online magazine FORA. Casie is the features editor of the magazine and she invited a whole bunch of bloggers and media including the Toronto Blog Girls. It was so great to see all the girls out and dressed so pretty and I got to meet a few more Tweeps/Bloggers IRL.
The magazine will be live in April and the first issue is a Prom theme featuring dresses by Peach Berserk. Casie & Kingi worked together to dress the Toronto Blog Girls for the event, hence the pretty dresses. There were a few girls that were saying some nasty things about us dressing up on their blogs & twitter feeds. Who knew that wearing pretty prom dresses would cause girls to act like we’re in high school? I was pretty surprised that anyone invited to an event as media would be negative about us wearing dresses featured in the magazinebut I’ll chalk it up to jealousy because we all looked gorgeous.
They had a photo wall up for us to take “Prom Photos” and we all took advantage and hammed it up for the cameras.
Dan & Jessi introduced the magazine and showed outtakes of their “celebrity photo shoot”. These two are a great pair and they work together really well.
My sister and I had the chance to chat with Jessi and she’s such a sweetheart. We were talking about her most interesting interview and she floored us when she said Tom Cruise! Apparently he is really nice and down to earth in person. Who knew?
After the preview we went down to Hemingways for some drinks and food. It was such a great day and thank you to Casie & MTV for starting off my week with such a fun day.
Cupcakes and Mace
Today is the launch of MTV’s online magazine FORA. I’ve been invited to the launch along with some of my favourite blog girls. Kelly Cutrone is also going to be at the event. She is in town to promote her book “If You Have to Cry, Go Outside”. I’m going to do my best to meet her and hopefully get a chance to chat. She is one of my business idols and I can’t wait to read her book.
I’ve got a pretty dress all ready to go and I’m off shortly to get my hair colour fixed. My amazing stylist Matt and I decided to try another brand of pink hair dye and it is not what we were going for at all, so he’s coming in early to fix me up before the event today.
Excuse my hung face in the photo, this was the morning after HTV’s show at the Hideout.
I hope you are all having a good start to your week.
Ping Pong, Dancing & Kissette
I’m behind on getting some posts up and I’m gonna try and get caught up this week.
On Feb 25 I met up with blog babes Casie Stewart & Carol Zara and Sean Hawaii & new friend Sheffi for Cabbie on the Street’s Celebrity Ping Pong Tournament. The event was put on by the Bridle Bash Foundation to benefit Doctors Without Borders and held at Andrew Richards Designs which was a perfect venue for the event. I would love to throw a party there sometime, hmmm….
I got tattooed earlier in the day so I missed most of the ping pong but I got there just in time to watch the winning match and see Team Bijan crush its much younger competitors. It was a pretty intense game of Ping Pong and I had no idea that it was such a serious sport.
After the trophy and championship belt had been presented the 5 of us went to Betty’s for some eats. I haven’t been there since last summer and I was craving their spinach & egg salad. We watched the end of the Russia vs Canada hockey game and then went back to the venue for the Afterparty.
We walked in and over to our area – VIP and drinking with the winners – and our booth was right next to the two hottest female DJs I’d ever seen. They call themselves Kissette and are a sister duo. Sister Power wins again! They really set a great vibe for the night and we danced our asses off.
We walked in and over to our area – VIP and drinking with the winners woo – and our booth was right next to the two hottest female DJs I’d ever seen. They call themselves Kissette and are a sister duo. Sister Power wins again! They really set a great vibe for the night and we danced our asses off.
This is my Sheffi in his host outfit. You can just imagine the kind of night we had
We danced up a storm and it was awesome our booth was up on the platform in front of the DJ’s. There’s just something about dancing when you’re up higher then everyone else. Shawn can really dance with a partner and it was the most fun trying to follow his lead. I am not a partner dancer and I would love to learn how…. Who thinks I can get Chad to go to dance lessons with me?
And then a sax player came out.
Notice that the hot girls came to hang and dance with us… She was definitely the hottest girl in the party and this is how we roll.
Another group of hot girls showed up to hang with our crew and Casie knew one of them (I can’t remember her name) and a girl I know, Sandra, was there. I love hanging with nice girls.
I was all danced out and ready to go home and I saw someone with a little chinese take-out container. They pointed me in the direction of the food and when I got to the table I discovered a freaking macaroni buffet! The little chinese food cartons had homemade macaroni in it and all those bowls were toppings.
I had aged cheddar, parmesan and mushrooms. Sooooo good. I wish this was what Kraft Dinner was like. This was the last photo cause I ate it and then Chad braved the blizzard to come and pick me up. (thank you!)
The party was a blast and it was so much fun to go out dancing with friends. Apparently this is nothing compared to the Bridle Bash event they throw in the summer. I’m looking forward to it! Thanks to everyone involved for putting on such a fun event.
