Well they are to promote the new comedy, You Might As Well Live, which premiers in Toronto this August 28. My exciting news is that my sister Kristin Fairlie is in it!!!

Cast & Crew at the afterpary L-R: Jonas Bell Pasht, Simon Ennis, Josh Peace, Kristin Fairlie, Michael Madsen, Ari Lantos
You Might As Well Live* is the story of Robert Mutt (played by Josh Peace), a so-called douchebag, trying to prove he’s a real somebody. And, on the advice of his childhood hero (former local baseball legend Clinton Manitoba), he sets out to attain the three keys to success – some money, a girl, and a championship ring. After a madcap adventure involving a drug racket, a roller-skating transvestite, a bar-mitzvah starring pop-star Stormy Blaze, and an air hockey tournament Robert finally meets the girl of his dreams.

Kristin Fairlie is Stormy Blaze, the underground pop sensation (in her own mind) and sister to Robert Mutt. Stormy is furious when her loser brother comes home from the mental institution and brings bad press to her home and burgeoning career. But, thanks to Robert, she gets her big break performing her debut single “This is the Beginning of Forever”.
The film will screen at three theatres in Toronto, and it has a limited release, so make sure you check it out!
The Bloor Cinema – 506 Bloor St W
AMC Yonge & Dundas – Toronto Life Square
Canada Square – 2200 Yonge St, 2nd level
This past January YMAWL screened at the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Slamdance runs in conjunction with the Sundance Film Festiaval. They are both on at the same time, in the same city, and sometimes in the same venues. Kristin and I went out to support it and of course check out Sundance. Kristin had talked to the Producers on the film and we got to go out and stay in the chalet with them and go to all the parties. It was so much fun!

Me & Kristin

Kristin & I with our Rubber Duck boots
We had the best time, went to awesome parties with the guys and got to go to almost all of the swag spots. I honestly couldn’t believe how awesome these places are. You literally go in a room and they give you a bag and you walk around and people trying to entice you into taking their stuff, for free. I know! So hard not to just take everything. It was mostly for Kristin, because she were promoting her film and I was helping with the Publicity and building contacts for myself. But she grabbed some cool things for me and alot of the people just gave me stuff anyway.

Best part ever was going to a room and having to wait because someone important was in the room already. And it was SLASH! I almost died and we didn’t get a chance to talk to him, but I smiled in his direction. He probably saw and thought I was the coolest girl he’d ever seen.

Slash Gibson Guitars
Slash was my first rock star crush. I was a big Guns N’ Roses fan and loved listening to his guitar solos. So amazing. He also does a wicked solo in Dirty Diana, one of my favourite Michael Jackson songs. In Gr. 5/6 I wore a Use Your Illusion t-shirt every day. My mom tried to give it away in hand me down piles forever. One day it got lost and I’ve always wanted another one.
