Shkank.com is Live!

Some fun news to share.  A project that I have been working with Nicole Arbour on has just launched it’s newly redesigned website in time for the holidays, Shkank.com.  If you haven’t been to the Shkank store on Yonge St you have to get down there.  The dresses and designs make you feel like a kid in a candy store.  They will work with you to create a custom dress or you can choose from one of their many “one-of-a-kind” pieces.  The designers, Rod Philpott, Phi and Trevor are very talented and creative guys who can whip up the most insane outfits in a matter of hours.

They have dressed Nicole for years, for photo shoots, her 2009 calendar, awards shows, hosting gigs and appearances and she always looks fabulous and I am dying to have them dress me for my next big event.

Check out their completely redesigned site, done by The Digital Beach and make sure you if you are in Toronto you take a trip to the store to check it out, you will not be disappointed.  Make sure you tell them Carly sent you :)

Sister Day

Yesterday I had an awesome day with my sister.  Her movie premiere is tomorrow night  (You Might As Well Live, 6pm Bloor Cinema) and we spent the day pampering and getting ready.

First stop was Fiorio at Yonge & St. Clair for manicures, pedicures and paraffin wrap.  We got gift certificates from our brother for Christmas last year and it was such a great gift!  I am definitely a fan of getting my nails did and I have pretty nice nails to begin with.  I got a french manicure on my fingers and hot pink on my toes.  Kristin did yellow fingers and blue toes.  It was really relaxing and the paraffin was amazing.  My feet are so soft.

After the salon we stopped quickly at Shkank to check out dresses and then down to The Brow House to meet Kira and get our brows done.  I had a great chat with her, stay tuned for more on that.

After brows we ate Licks, yum, and decided to check out a Winners.  We went to the big one at Cloverdale Mall in Etobicoke and I SCORED!  I got three pairs of shoes for under $100.  Two were shoes I’d been eyeing for a while, that were now in clearance for WAY LESS then they ever were.

Betsey Johnson flip flops – I wanted these since the beginning of summer and they were way to expensive.  Now they’re on clearance for $9!

L.A.M.B Shoes – My sister has the same ones.  They were ridiculously priced for Winners before – Like $80 and I got them on clearance for $22.

So hot.  I love these shoes.  But not the look on my face or my messy hair.

And then, I spotted them.  Out of the corner of my eye a bright flash.  Something I had wanted my entire life, but could never afford.

Aren’t they amazing!  Pink, 14 hole, Docs!  I was so excited I couldn’t put them down.  And they only had one pair in my size!  And they were $60!!!!!!!!!!!

These are officially my new favourite pair of shoes.  Ever!  I’m kinda thinking I should’ve bought two pairs, so I would never have to worry about them getting ruined and being unwearable.  I still might do that and keep one pair wrapped up for future wearing pleasure.

How awesome are they!  I’m excited just writing about them.  I’m debating whether or not to wear them to the You Might As Well Live Premiere tonight.  Are you coming out?  Make sure you say hi to me if you do.

I’m going to put these boots on right now.

Lime Crime and new shoes

I just got home from a very long day…PRing, Agent-ing and then a meeting. I was having a pretty bad day until I walked in the door and saw that there were two packages waiting for me. The first one was my new sz 6 Mary Jane platform shoes by Pleaser, that I purchased on eBay for $15 incl. shipping. They are super hot and my bf loves them, even though I’m an inch taller than he is with them on.

The next package was one I had been waiting for about two weeks to receive. As soon as I turned the package over and saw the return address I let out a little scream! My Lime Crime makeup had arrived!!!

I posted earlier about Lime Crime and the girl who runs it, Xenia (or Doe Deere) and how much I love and admired her. Well her makeup did not disappoint! I bought the mini brush set, which was a bit smaller then I had anticipated, but the brushes are unbelievably soft and really nice to use. My first makeup purchase from her was the Magic Eye Dust in Dragon Scales. This makeup is very high pigment loose eye dust and it is absolutely beautiful. My new favourite shadow for sure! I opened the package and there was a nice little note inside from Xenia and my eye dust was wrapped in pink tissue paper!

So now I’m wearing my brand new heels (which are soo hot) and my brand new eye dust that was applied with my brand new makeup brushes and I am a very, very happy girl.

Will post pics soon!

Online Shopping cont'd

I received my very first online purchase today. Green gabardine fabric from a place in Napanee. This was part one of my eBay purchase, I’m waiting on Black Gabardine from the same person, but apparently it was cheaper to ship it seperately. Oh well, this arrived pretty quickly, within one week of the payment and I am feeling confident about purchasing more items online.
Here’s what my new fabric looks like:

I know it’s not much to be excited about, but I have the best idea for a dress and I’ve been searching for just the right material and colour. I’ll post pics when I finally get around to making it.

Shopping Online

I’ve recently started shopping online. I’m very intrigued by the thought of exactly what I want to buy arriving at my doorstep.

I have a love/hate relationship with shopping. I love buying new things but I hate most of what’s in stores. I am also a small girl and most things are far too big. So I decided to start sewing and making things I want to wear, and buying stuff online.

My first purchases are fabric to make two dresses out of, these are off of eBay, which was the first time I’d used this as well; and a set of makeup brushes and a pot of Dragon Scales Magic Dust from
Lime Crime Makeup. You should really check out her site and blog. I’m absolutely in love with this girl. She is cute as a button and is working hard doing what she loves. It makes me happy to support people like her.

The only downfall so far is having to wait for my purchases to get here. I should get the fabric this week, but will have to wait approx. 2 weeks for the Lime Crime stuff. But I still think it will be here sooner than I’ll be able to find time to go to a store.
